Objectives
This intensive two-day course will discuss the principles of disability and workers' compensation (WC) case management (CM) and help attendees prepare for CM practice in a variety of settings.
Learn strategies and skills to design, implement and measure outcomes of Disability Management and Workers' Compensation systems to ensure the success of case management initiatives
Insurance and payment systems for CM: employer benefit and carve out programs, managed care concepts, workers compensation, Medicare, Medicaid, SSI, SSD
Develop and evaluate successful Case Management programs
Obtain the knowledge needed to prepare for various case management, occupational health and other certification examinations
This 2 day course includes:

Course instructors are industry experts with extensive experience and strong academic backgrounds. Topics that will be addressed include:
Business rationale for CM services and the concepts of disability and WC management
Insurance and payment systems for CM: employer benefit and carve out programs, managed care concepts, workers compensation, Medicare, Medicaid, SSI, SSDI
CM models, processes and program components
CM tools, resources, clinical and disability management guidelines and protocols
Legal and ethical issues in CM-including multi-state practice and confidentiality issues
Regulatory compliance: ADA, FMLA, COBRA, HIPAA and others
Principles of documentation, quality assurance and satisfaction in CM
Fitness for duty, return to work, transitional work and job accommodation
Telephonic CM, telehealth and telemedicine impacts on CM
Financial considerations in CM demonstrating value and measuring the effectiveness of disability and CM programs
Resources for case managers in all work settings and environments
Sample cases and test taking techniques
Continuing Education Credits

This continuing nursing education (CNE) Activity was approved by the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses, Inc. (AAOHN), an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation for 16 CNE contact hours.

Provider approved by the Commission for Case Manager Certification (CCMC), two day program for 16 clock hours.
